The designers drew inspiration from the city's growing number of parks and the lack of sufficient green spaces. The developer of the estate incorporated a significant amount of green space in their residential project, and to highlight this feature, a green landscape was adopted as the theme of the sales office. The result is a space that feels like a break from a busy day, a retreat into a lush, green sanctuary.
What sets this design apart is the bold use of different shades of green that cover the entire space, creating the illusion of a mysterious forest. The walls protrude from various extents and angles, while the curvy pattern of the carpets imitates geographical contour lines, echoing the form of the walls. The hollow design of the ceiling greatly increases spatial perception, forming an illusion of looking up at the sky in a forest. Stacks of stone layers elevate the sense of luxury, resembling natural topography in forests together with artificial trees.
The challenge of designing the sales office was to create an unusual green environment that represents the characteristics of the estate. As the estate is still under development, the interior plays an important role in arousing the customers’ interest by creating a comfortable environment for them to stay. The aim was to attract them through abstract design instead of replicating a real green environment.
The project, which spans 1000 sq. m, was completed in May 2017 in Shenzhen, China. The design team consisted of Ajax Law and Virginia Lung, who worked together to bring this innovative concept to life. The design was awarded Golden in A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award in 2018, a testament to the designers' prodigy and wisdom.
With its bold use of green and innovative design elements, the Shenzhen Raffles City Sales Office stands as a testament to the power of design in transforming spaces and creating unique experiences. It is a shining example of how design can be used to create spaces that are not only functional but also contribute to the well-being and comfort of its users.
